Chikurinji can be easily translated as “Bamboo Forest Temple”, not too taxing for my floundering Japanese translating skills! This temple is absolutely stunning and if you have socks on, prepare to have them knocked off. There are 19 Buddhist images in the temple garden that are considered to be National Treasures. You can still get very close to everything in this place, and I was also permitted to take photos inside the temple as well. A very rare occasion, so that was great.
This temple is dedicated to Monk Bosatsu, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom.
