Fujiidera is “The Temple of Wisteria”. I never knew what wisteria was until I moved to Japan. Now whenever I see it, or smell it, I always associate it with Japan.
This temple is one where the main temple managed to escape fire and destruction from the very beginning of its creation by Kukai. As such it is a national treasure, and a temple where one prays for a safe life from catastrophe.
