Temple 53: Enmyouji

Sometimes we find a temple with a marvelous English explanation. I will clam up hear and let you read for yourself, except to say that “Enmyouji” can be translated as “Temple of the Light of the Circle”. Ok, that’s it! Read on for yourself.

Enmyouji is also home to a statue of the Virgin Mary and Christians could come here and worship privately, and secretly.

It was so interesting to see so many pilgrims pay homage to Mary, with respect and kindness.
